During
the interview, Beyonce talked about how she was preparing for the movie, and
how she managed to lose weight just by drinking lemonade.
It got me
thinking, if Beyonce can do it, I can do it as well.
Now, the
lemon diet has been around much longer than that, but it was Beyonce who made
it popular.
As far as
I know, it was originally developed 50 years ago by Stanley Burroughs.
The lemon
diet was originally developed for cleansing the body from toxins, and the
weight loss is just a side effect.
However,
the results are extraordinary.
In just
two weeks, I lost 16 pounds (Beyonce lost 20).
And if
you like to do it as well, I strongly recommend the diet. Let me guide you
through it.
Prepare Yourself!
Now, like everything else in life, the success
depends mostly on good preparation.
The same premise applies for the lemon diet,
where you need to ease into the master cleanse.
You surely do not want to go from pizzas,
burgers, and sodas to just lemonade.
And while in reality you can, it will be a major
blow and shock for your body.
Therefore, you want to take it easy, and take at
least two to three days to slowly remove all processed foods from your diet.
During those first two to three days, switch
your processed foods with fruits and veggies as you are preparing for massive
calorie limit.
You also want to try and lower your caffeine
intake slowly, until you fully stop during the diet.
The Diet
Now, once you are prepared mentally and
physically, you can start the diet.
All you need is spring water, maple syrup,
cayenne pepper sea salt and of course, freshly squeezed lemon juice.
For the lemonade mixture, you want between 12
and 14 tablespoons of fresh lemon juice, half a teaspoon of cayenne pepper and
12-14 tablespoons of maple syrup, all mixed with 2 liters of water.
The amount of mixture is enough to last for one
day.
When you feel hungry, get a glass of the
mixture.
You need to drink the same amount every day.
For even better results, you can drink a salt
water flush.
For the salt water flush, you need 1 liter of
regular water and 1 tablespoon of sea salt.
Be careful, once you drink the flush you will
experience bowel movement, so make sure you are at home when you drink the
flush mixture.
Once you’ve done the lemon diet, I recommend
trying other juices for detoxifying and cleansing your liver.
What Can You Eat During Lemon Diet?
One of the most important things during the
lemon diet is that you cannot eat solid foods.
For those of you who cannot go through two weeks
without solid foods, try to incorporate the lemon diet for at least two to four
days.
For those of you who will try and go through the
whole “two weeks” experience, the only food you can consume during the master
cleanse plan is the lemonade, non-processed foods and fruit and vegetables.
Fruits and vegetables are allowed on the first
day, allowing your body to ease into the diet.
Preferably, you want raw vegetables and fruits.
From day 2 onward, you want only the lemon juice
mixture, approximately 3 liters of it.
After you’ve finished the lemon diet, you want 3
liters of orange juice on the first day, and fruits and vegetables on the
second day.
This helps your body get back to balance. As you
easing into your regular diet, consume grains and oats.
Important Notes
- You should not follow the diet for more than two weeks (10 days being the preferable optimum)
- If you are having health issues and acute illnesses, consult your physician before going on the diet
- Before you begin the diet, completely get rid of caffeine
- This is a detox diet, not a weight loss plan, which means you will probably regain some of the lost weight after you get back to your normal diet.
- You want to follow the diet on a clear schedule. Avoid lemon diet during hectic periods and vacation. You want a relaxed atmosphere.
Pros and Cons
Let’s start with some of the benefits of the
lemon diet at first.
The main benefit is the rapid weight loss, which
is great for some people as they are preparing for a major event (hello
weddings).
Once you lose the excessive weight, you can
easily work yourself into a balanced diet and exercise regime to keep your
optimal weight.
But weight loss is just one of the main
benefits, the other is the detoxification process.
You are getting rid of all toxins and fat
deposits in your body.
And if you like more than just the lemon diet, I
have some other detox foods for you to try.
With detoxification, you are also relieving your
body from stomach troubles, asthma, and warts.
Now, onto the cons or the side effects.
Every diet and everything in your life has a
side effect.
Nothing is 100% beneficial, the lemon diet
included.
One of the side effects that occur during lemon
diet is fatigue, and the feeling of being tired.
This happens as your body is not getting much
calories and nutrients.
You are working on minimum here, but once you
get back to balanced diet, you will feel all right.
Last, if you goal is to lose weight, do not
forget to exercise, especially your face.
